Why temptations and trials?

1Peter 1:7

That the trial of your faith being much more precious  than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ

Every student in any school passes from one level to another after meeting with certain criteria. Most of the time to find out whether a student meets with such criteria or not, they are made to write tests or examinations. If the student passes the test with the desired grade, he is automatically promoted to the next level because he has fulfilled the requirements for such promotion.

We have also had few exception where exceptional students who are found to be outstandingly excellent in the current level and who are psychologically, emotionally, physically and intellectually mature to face the challenges of the next level are promoted without having to go through the traditional test or examination

There is a level God wants every Christian to attain in our walk with him and to get to that level, we must pass through all the prerequisite levels. It’s a gradual progression from level to level until we come to the fullness of God. Each level has its own examination. In order to be promoted to the next level, you have to fulfill the requirements of the present level.

One might be tempted to think that a relationship with God eliminates all the troubles and struggles of this world but let me tell you that as mathematics gets more complex as you move from a lower level to a higher level, so it is in our Christian walk. The complexities of our trials and difficulties increase as we move from one level of work with God to another but one thing is certain: Passing the tests that comes with one level, equip us with the necessary credentials we need to face the next level’s challenges.

There are also times in our Christian lives when we have proven ourselves in and have outgrown a particular level, that God automatically promotes us to the next level without any significant test . These accounts for the reason why some have to fast for days, sow certain kinds of seed and wait for years to enter into a particular realm of spiritual manifestation while some others stresslessly  launch into the same realm.

Jacob was the elect of God but yet, he had to go through storms and turbulence to finally step into the promise of God because it was difficult for him to learn how to be completely dependent on God and not his ‘wisdom’ and craftiness.

To be continued.
